The 5 Factor Diet

This simple diet has been created by personal trainer Harley Pasternak and is said to have been used by the many 'a-list' celebs over the recent years.

The plan is designed to last five weeks. It consists of five small meals a day, combined with 25 mins of exercise broken down into five five-minute bursts.

Simple eh?!

Pasternak created the 5-Factor diet with Hollywood actors in mind - the simple meals are designed to be rustled up on set and the short exercises can be done between takes. You also get one cheat day every week so you can eat whatever you want.

So does it work?

Well, this plan has you eating regularly will keep you feeling full and stave off those hunger pangs which could end with you reaching for that bag of crisps.....

Each meal contains up to 300 calories and on top of that, you're also allowed two snacks of around 200 calories each.

The meals are made up mostly of low-fat protein, such as chicken or fish, and healthy carbohydrates, such as brown rice, beans or pulses. Olive or rapeseed oil are also allowed as these are full of essential fatty acid.

In total, you should be consuming no more than 1,900 calories per day - this alone will not help you lose much weight but combine it with the 25 minutes of exercise per day and you should begin to notice a drop.

How does it work?

As with every diet that works, it cuts down on your daily calorie intake and has you doing exercise. Eat more than the 300 calories per portion, or skip that exercise and this won't work.

Can I do it?

This diet should be open to most people - it doesnt have you doing that much exercise, and its broken down into five minute chunks. The meals are balanced and spread throughout the day which should stop you going hungry. The only problem you may have is when your boss catches you eating when you should be at work!

Where do I start?

First, as ever, check with your doctor. Then head over to Amazon or W H Smiths to buy the book and recipie ideas.
