TGI Fridays

TGI Fridays, the large American Style chain has started to offer salads in recent years - however be warned - some of these come stacked high with dressings and cheese.

The Jack Daniel's® Salmon Salad, although arrives coated in a sweet and smoky galze is actually one of the better options. Served on a bed of salad and with an optional dressing (Ranch, Low Fat Balsamic or Low Fat Italian Vinaigrette).

The chicken will be grilled rather than fried and you'll get a good mix of protein and nutrients from this dish.

Friday's Cajun Chicken Sandwich (best served without the Colby cheese), can be had with a side salad instead of fries.

The rest of the menu is going to be down to portion control. American style typically means large portions, served with chips!

Jack Daniel's American Grill for example is a huge portion of rib eye steak, Cajun-battered shrimp and chargrilled chicken breast coated in a sweet and smoky glaze. Served with Cajun-battered onion rings, vegetables and fries. Its likely to pack a mean calorie puch.

Steaks are popular and a potentially healthy option if you go for the smallest size available and chop off any visible fat. Steaks here are flame-grilled rather than pan-fried and this will help to keep fat intakes down. Ideally, choose rump steak rather than fillet or sirloin as it’s slightly lower in calories.

Well-done steaks also have a lower calorie content than rare steaks because the longer cooking time allows more fat to drip out of the meat. Just opt for a salad instead of fries on the side.

Avoid Fajitas - Loads of oil is used to fry this combo of beef or chicken with peppers and onions so that by the time you’ve added in the soft tortilla wraps, traditional dips and grated cheese, you’ve got a meal that will break the calorie bank.

TGI Fridays do not currently provide nutritional information on their
dishes, apparently they are currently undergoing work to analyse all the dishes on the menu and when this work is complete we will make the information available to you here.
